Veterans Day Awards given at Veterans Day Program
Four awards were given at the Veterans Day program, organized by the Military Affairs Committee of the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce.
BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Brookings Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee was proud to host the community’s annual Veterans Day Program on November 11, 2025 at 9:00AM at the Dacotah Bank Center. Master of Ceremonies, Scott Kwasiewnski, lead the program including the Brookings High School Band, remarks from Councilwoman Briana Doran, and a Veterans Address by Dr. David Earnest.
Four awards were given as follows for their incredible service:
- Soldier of the Year: SPC Jose Pacheco
- Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year: Staff Sergeant Jack Nordmann
- Officer of the Year: CPT Chelsey Sundberg
- Civilian of the Year: Char Flippo
A special thank you to the Dacotah Bank Center for providing the use of the facility for this program, Brookings High School Band for sharing their musical talent, Dr. David Earnest for his Veterans Address, Russ Chavez for the Invocation and Benediction, all members of the organizing committee for the many volunteer hours put into our efforts, and the VFW Auxiliary for handing out programs. Thank you, also, to Robert Hill of SDDAV22 Korean War Display for his tribute to Korean War veterans, and Brianna Munzo of Flowers on Main for providing flowers to each veteran, as well as beautiful displays for the event. The purpose of the Brookings Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee is to promote a positive working relationship among the community, employers, and area veterans and military groups.
